IN A CABIN IN LOUSIANA

Two months ago, quite exactly, we were in Louisiana. We rented a cabin by a lake for a couple of days on our way to New Orleans.

The first night we had a snake on the porch. It was a bit freaky but we made our way to sit out there with some evening beers anyway.

And OK; if I have any readers from the deep south you are entitled to and probably will roll your eyes now but every now and then we went all "Oh this is just like in True Blood!". Yes, we are total nerds. But it was! As you can see in the pic I'm already turning into, well, something beyond the ordinary.

Less spooky in the morning, all calm and pretty. And who would've though, they had WiFi out in the woods! (Not complimentary though, we leeched, I was kind of waiting for some guy with a shot gun to show up...good thing no one did :)

We just had a visit from this little fella every morning instead. And then from all of his friends too.

We drove in to town.

And out to the swamp. Pictures from the bayou as promised!

Had Cajun food. I'm not sure how many bloggers hang out at Mulates so I left the food photography for someone else not to seem too much of an idiot but did take some sneaky pictures of my pie:

Out of all places I had to go ask for sparkling water here. At this point I had noticed it never was as an option on the menus but I still didn't know sparkling water-soda water-water with gas -you say tomato I say tomato-whatever you want to call it is not really an option; I though it'd be as common as in Europe. So I came out an idiot anyway, hah. Duh.

We also went to Avery Island which is the home of Tabasco (we like Tabasco) and did a bunch of other stuff but my computer decided to absolutely vanish those pictures beyond recovery so here are some mini Tabasco bottles we brought home instead.

Then we drove off for new adventures but that's to be continued...

THIS LITTLE PIGGY

Hello there! This is me last week in the Swedish town of Gränna, home of the striped pepper mint candy cane, polkagris!
Translated that would be 'polka pig'.

The dress is vintage (my grandmothers; found at the other summer cottage some years ago) and the headband is by Dolly Cool. But what you really want to now is that that bag in my hand right there is FULL OF CANDY.

I CAN STILL MAKE IT

Me by Trashy Diva, in Trashy Diva and with Trashy Diva (that would be in the bag).

And no my purse does not match the shoes (I hate it if things end up that way) but when traveling you sometimes have to compromise.

But anyway, just a reminder that you still have a couple more days to use my 20% discount code for Trashy Diva; which was FFB20PER!

(I just noticed they were kind enough to add some new designs so that I'd have something to shop too, haha. Ha ha. Damn. Because if you live in a country that has the Polar Circle running trough it you can never have enough summer dresses to use during those three months of sweet sunshine right? Especially if you spend a big amount of your time in harbour work gear. Yup.)

HEADLINE

So, now I'm off with Eddi and the kids to Legoland!
(Do you know how many lego animations and whatever there is out there on youtube? Some very, some less well done. Got stuck watching them half trough the night when looking for something to post. Thank you fuck you very much, internet!)

Now if someone was hoping to (once again) see me in a post instead of grooving lego men you still can get your daily dose by watching Baltic Coasts today on TV1; I'll be doing some harbor stuff and burlesque too on tonights episode. I know that some of you elsewhere have seen it already and apparently my three minutes made a huge impact on some, since I started receiving Facebook friend requests and emails (basically saying "Hi, I saw you on tv." Ummmm, aha, ok.) from a lot of people I don't know. Which is a bit weird maybe -now the series are actually quite well made and interesting, but I've seen my insert and it is totally alright but I am still not starting my own Facebook fan page quite yet... How the voice over manages to translate my words of "sometimes it has even happened that a car has caught fire" with "Many times cars bursts into flames!" is and will remain a linguistic enigma for me at least. The harbor is a dangerous place. Eh, sort of. But ta-ta for now!

AUSTIN WAS GREAT

After Las Vegas we flew to Austin. In Texas, you know. The difference was enormous and right then, tired as we were, for the better - after the 24 hour bling bling and slot machine ringing of Vegas Austin was easy going with bird song, organic food and guys playing guitars in the corners of the streets. I didn't even feel like wearing lipstick. We stayed at the Hotel San Jose which with it's Eames chairs, rain water bottles, vintage carpets and signed rock n'roll posters on the walls was designed to the max, although still surprisingly laid back. I suppose at another place it would have been all too much hipster for me but right then right there it was just perfect. It was terribly hot and we took it easy by the pool, browsed vintage stores and had hoummus sandwiches, mexican food some beers at night, mostly around South Congress.

Then we rented a car and drove 3300 kilometers, but I'll get back to the rest later.

THE WEDDING

So, here are a few photos from our wedding on the 3rd of June in Vegas!
As you can see, The King was there too.

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
Since rather few knew about the wedding and since everything was very hetic before the trip there was no hen-night for me. But the Itty-Bitties threw me a mini bachelorette party the morning of the wedding; champagne, chocolate strawberries and a quick treat at the hotel spa!
(The vintage necklace was the old, of course, the shoe pads new. Borrowed was a song lyrics quote -a greeting from Ina- and blue some Finnish mint liquor...that I forgot (or, well, Eddi packed) in my carry-on bag and was confiscated at Heathrow...)

Graceland Chapel, where it happened! Picture snapped from Olivia Rouge.

Waiting outside for our turn. All rather excited and nervous at that point.

The ceremony! All short and sweet. Elvis was late though, caught in traffic, so in the end the wedding did last a bit longer and the waiting sort of boosted up the whole thing even more :)

Newly weds. Pictures by Tuomas Lairila.

Mr. & Mrs. by Aino.

LAS VEGAS pt.2 - BURLESQUE, FRIENDS AND PARTY GIRLS

With the Bitties on town.

Zombie Marilyn.
Creepy Marily'ns skirt is eternally blowing on a parking lot in Vegas.

We did some show girl-shopping.

Before the show, byt the pool (pic by Aino).

Some minor sunbathing with Tinker Bell.

Now as some of you may remember the reason for us not doing this whole trip in autumn as first planned was the fact that we attended and performed at the Burlesque Hall of Fame. For more and proper pictures of that you will have to search the realms of the internet.

Tiki drinks after the wedding. I might post some more wedding pictures once I receivve them and get them organized.
