Facebook launches a Facebook for Every Phone app - Inquirer

SOCIAL NETWORKING MONSTER Facebook has launched its Facebook for Every Phone app to allow more users to use the web site on the go.

Facebook is attempting to reach more users with its Facebook for Every Phone app. It has a new look and a couple of new features and works on thousands of different handsets.

Facebook said, "Today, we're launching the new Facebook for Every Phone app, which offers a fast and comprehensive Facebook experience on over 2,500 different phones."

The new elements of the application allow you to upload photos and find friends by using your phone's contact list. The application includes the usual parts like News Feed, Inbox and Photos.

If you're worried about the data costs involved with using an app like this then Facebook has lined up free data access for the app for 90 days. In the UK the social networking outfit has teamed up with mobile operator Three to offer the trial.

In an attempt to make people use it after the trial Facebook also said that the app is "optimized to use less data than other Java apps or mobile sites", making it cheaper and thus more affordable.

It's not clear, but we're assuming that this trial will only be available for Three customers and are waiting for it to settle the confusion.

You can download the app now from m.facebook.com or by entering "d.facebook.com/install" into the web browser on your phone. The app is also available in app stores such as Getjar and Appia.

Facebook said the app is available globally for any phone that is Java enabled and that it has plans to make it compatible with more handsets in the future. ยต

Update

Three has confirmed toThe INQUIRER that the trial data plan for the Facebook app is exclusive to its customers.
