Three school pupils take police to court for 'kettling' - Mirror.co.uk
THREE school pupils are suing the police for holding them for eight hours with little food or water at a tuition fees protest.
Adam Castle, 16, sister Rosie, 15, and friend Sam Eaton, 16, also want a judicial review for an alleged breach of human rights after police "kettled" them in November.
The trio said officers refused to let children as young as 11 leave a containment area in Whitehall, Central London, even though they showed proof they were under 18.
Martin Westgate, QC, representing the children at the High Court, said: "There ought to have been a release plan for them."
Ivan Hare, for Met Police, said kettling was "proportionate". The case continues.
