Asus WX Lamborghini Wireless Mouse

Posted: 16 Jul 2011 05:00 AM PDT

We've been running off all these technological products that bear automaker's trademarks on them – just last week, we introduced the Porsche Lacie P'9220 and P'9230 hard drives – and just in case you already have these items with you, we'd like to introduce you to your next purchase: the Asus WX Lamborghini Wireless Mouse.

This new AAA battery-powered mouse would fit perfectly with the new Asus Automobili Lamborghini VX7 Notebook that was also recently launched back in April. It's available for only $80, and for that price, you get a mouse that bears the sleek and sporty design cues of Lamborghini supercars, including three choices of a two-tone color scheme – yellow/black, white/black, and all black. There's also a nano dongle attachment embedded on the mouse that allows it to connect to any USB port with a range of up to 10 meters. This high-frequency response range allows the mouse to work with instant precision without having to resort to any wires or other forms of interference.

According to Asus, the WX Wireless Mouse is a must-have item to include in your computer. "Based on the power and speed so coveted in Lamborghini vehicles, the WX-Lamborghini wireless laser mouse delivers a breathtaking experience in control," the company said.

"This is the ultimate style icon when it comes to mouse input, inspired directly by the powerful, angular shape so known from its motorized namesakes."

Knowing our love for products that have automotive tie-ups to them, there's a good chance that we won't waste time adding a new wireless mouse to our collection.

Video: Moms make great companions in hot laps around Laguna Seca

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 11:00 PM PDT

You know that saying "mother’s know best?" Well, in a lot of cases, that adage rings true, even if a lot of us refuse to admit it.

In the rare cases that mothers don’t make the right decisions, it ends up in a hilarious comedy like this video of a mom being taken for a spin around Laguna Seca on board a Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Now I love my mom to pieces and I’d do anything to get a smile on her face, but I’d be especially excited if I got a chance to take her out for a spin in a sports car.

Now getting her to ride shotgun is easier said than done because she’s not the thrill-seeking type, but after watching this video, I’m seriously considering bribing her with something just to get this reaction from her.

All in good fun, though, because the moment her body starts rejecting her lunch, I’m slowing down. Good thing that the mom in this video had an empty stomach during her hilarious lap-around Laguna Seca, but we still got a good kick seeing her riding by the seat of her pants.

It’s a good way to start your morning with a nice laugh or two and trust us, this video will give all that and more.

Dodge Challenger SRT8 392

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 12:00 PM PDT

The Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 is back again this year, and this time it’s getting even more advanced technologies to go with that monstrous 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine. It’s easy to forget about all of the features of the rear-wheel drive muscle car when you have 470 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque coursing through your ride, but Chrysler is revamping the SRT8 392 so that customers will still get 23 mpg, along with a revised suspension system and shift controls from the Charger SRT8.

The new two-mode adaptive damping suspension system offers selectable suspension tuning with choices for "Auto" and "Sport" styles. Each option will automatically adapt to road and driver inputs for optimal vehicle control, while the performance SRT-tuned, fully-hydraulic steering system gives drivers more direct response and on-center feel.

The 2012 Challenger SRT8 392 also welcomes a new, exclusive SRT heated steering wheel with mounted paddle shifters and a new 18-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with innovative GreenEdge technology.

Rendering: 2012 BMW 3-Series

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 11:00 AM PDT

BMW is still keeping a tad bit mum when it comes to the new version of their smaller sedan, but automotive enthusiasts are not going to let something like that stop the flow of information. Our latest rendering of the 2012 BMW 3-Series takes the elements revealed from the most recent spy shots to unveil the BMW 3-Series in it full and naked glory.

Ever since the 3-Series began production back in 1975, BMW has done very little to mess with its overall design. Each generation has brought out some tweaks here and there, but nothing too drastic. The BMW F30 3-Series will be no different. The sedan takes some of the same design cues from the new 5-Series, and possibly the new 7-Series. There have been numerous reports that the new 3-Series will be longer than the current version by around an inch and a half, but it will have considerably shorter overhangs.

As for the engine, the 2012 BMW 3-Series will feature BMW's new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine with an output of 240-horsepower and at least one inline six option. The diesel lineup will consist of turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder variants and a hybrid model will also come into play sometime later.

After the sedan makes it debut - more than likely at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show - BMW will then bring out convertible, coupe, M3, wagon, and Gran Turismo variants.

Car Infographics: Comparing the Fuel Consumption of the Average Car vs. the Average Human

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 10:00 AM PDT

Ever wonder how much food would be comparable to the amount of gas we use everyday? Okay, neither did we, but then we came across this infographic detailing just that. We may not eat as abundantly as the cartoon human (who’s surprisingly skinny considering all of the junk he’s consuming), but even that is no where near what it would take to fuel a car.

A car would need roughly 45,000 calories per day compared to our 2,000 calorie limit in order to get us where we need to go. This number is based off a gallon of gas being calculated as 31,268 calories and the average American using 1.4 gallons of gas per day. This may sound like a lot, but a car also sheds 1,125 calories per minute when traveling at 60 mph, compared to an average human’s 4.6 calories at 3 mph.

What this translates to is a bunch of numbers and conversions that would really lead us no where if we were to figure it all out. But the lesson learned in this whole thing is that if you want to eat even 1/15th of the amount of calories "consumed" by a man-made machine, then you better be ready to work just as hard to get rid of them.

Check out the rest of the infographic to get a more detailed breakdown of the fuel consumption comparison and remember to check back with us for our next installment in the Car Infographics series.
